Schooling in Hong Kong for children arriving from the mainland
This page points families to public pages. It restates only the categories those pages use. It does not add admission steps, cycle dates, eligibility, or an application service.
Primary One Admission
The EDB splits Primary One Admission into Discretionary Places and Central Allocation. Application method, the year’s arrangements, and the net table are on the EDB pages. This site’s school-net filter follows that public table only: Tseung Kwan O is net 95; Tuen Mun is listed as both 70 and 71, and an estate is not assigned to just one of them; Kai Tak is not a place name on the table, so it is not assigned to 34, 35, or 41.
Direct Subsidy Scheme
DSS schools are on a separate EDB page. This site does not add admission steps and does not rank those schools.
International schools
International schools are on the EDB international-schools page. This site does not add admission steps and does not rank them.
Secondary School Places Allocation
The SSPA leaflet says Hong Kong is divided into 18 secondary school nets aligned with administrative districts, and places from outside a district can change by year. This site did not retrieve a numbered secondary-net list, so the secondary net is no data. It is not estimated.
Dependant visa
A dependant visa or entry permit is decided from the Immigration Department page. This site does not assess eligibility.
Nearby schools on a listing
Nearby schools on a sale listing come from the EDB school-location file on data.gov.hk (metadata modified 2026-10-05, downloaded 2026-10-13). Distance is a straight line of about 1 km from the mean of Lands Department ALS points whose Chinese estate name matches, nearest first. That is not a ranking, a walking time, or a school place. If there is no matching school or no net number, the page says “no data” instead of filling the gap.
